The Curriculum
|
If young children are to learn, they must have first-hand experiences. It is extremely important that children have this background in preparation for learning. It is around this concept of learning that we have planned our curriculum. The A Beka Curriculum is used, this curriculum is dedicated to providing quality education through a Christian perspective. We will provide a flexible program, which will give the child an opportunity to grow gradually in all areas of learning without force or pressure. It will enable them to think for themselves, to solve problems, to follow suggestions, and to carry out planned procedures to the best of their abilities at their own speed. This schedule is very flexible with alternate periods of activity and quietness. The programs will follow a similar pattern every day with the exception of special events. The program will provide a time for learning centers when the children work and play with art materials, manipulative blocks, home living equipment, language arts and science, math activities and other activities whereby they can work by themselves or in a small group. Enrichments classes such as music and physical education are in corporated into our weekly program for all ages. Christmas and Spring programs are presented yearly. Spanish is offered for 3's, 4's, K5, 1st, and 2nd grade.
